Ume - I'm addicted and I just can't get enough (Straight Grain blog tour)

Het is echt zo!

Ik kan er geen genoeg van krijgen.

Het Ume patroontje van Straight Grain is, 

met grote voorsprong,

 mijn favoriet van 2018.

Het is ook zo veelzijdig.

Je kan met de verschillende opties, 

en de juiste keuze van stof,

een hele garderobe maken,

die toch gevarieerd is.

De eerste versies toonde ik al hier en hier.

Mijn derde Ume toon ik ter gelegenheid van de blogtour van Straight Grain.

En ja,

ik naaide al een vierde (in opdracht),

en er liggen nog wat stofjes voor een paar zomerse versies.

It really is!

I just can't get enough.

The Ume pattern from Straight Grain is,

by far,

my favorite pattern of 2018.

It is so versatile.

With the different options,

and the right choice of fabric,

you can sew an entire wardrobe of these,

and still have a variety of dresses.

I already showed you my first and second version on the blog.

I'm presenting you this third Ume for the Straight Grain blog tour.

And I confess,

I already sewed a fourth (commissioned),

and I bought some fabrics for a couple of summer dresses too.

Voor deze versie ging ik een andere toer op.

Een beetje Scandinavisch,

wat minimalistischer dan je van ons gewend bent.

De stof kocht ik in Zweden,

tijdens onze vakantie vorig jaar.

Een roestkleurig katoen,

met een fijne onregelmatige, zwarte stip.

Vandaar ook mijn keuze om te doorstikken met zwarte draad,

en de sluiting met zwarte kamsnaps te voorzien.

For this Ume I took a different path.

It is a little Scandinavian,

and more minimalistic than what you are used to see here.

The fabric was bought in Sweden,

during our holiday last summer.

A rusty colored cotton

with small, irregular black dots.

I therefore also chose to topstitch with black thread,

and I opted for black snaps to close the dress.

Verder opteerde ik voor het knopenpat tot halverwege 

de rimpelrok en de strikkraag.

Initieel wilde ik lange mouwen maken,

maar tijdens het naaien heb ik ze afgeknipt tot elleboog-lengte.

Furthermore, I sewed the button closure to just below the waist,

used the gathered skirt and the bow collar.

Initially, I had cut out the long sleeves,

but during the making, 

I decided to cut them off to elbow length.

Op de rug maakte ik de plooi weer anders.

Je kan daar wat mee spelen,

om weer een ander effect te krijgen.

Hier maakte ik de stolpplooi naar binnen.

Ik stikte de rugpas ook door met zwarte draad.

The back pleat was done differently this time.

It's fun to play with that,

to get a different look.

I sewed the back pleat inwards.

And also topstitched the back yoke with black thread.

De jurk hing al een tijdje in de kast,

maar ik wilde graag foto's maken bij mooi weer,

en op een mooie locatie.

Onze vakantie in Hof van Saksen was de ideale gelegenheid.

Dus vergeef mij het aantal foto's,

maar alles zat hier mee!

The dress had been hanging around,

waiting for the right time to make photo's.

We wanted nice weather,

and a nice location.

Our trip to Hof Van Saksen in the North of the Netherlands

was the perfect occasion.

My girl enjoyed throwing rocks and shells into the water.

Our cottage was right on the beach.

Zo vond Suze het leuk om elke dag keien en schelpjes in het water te gooien.

Ons huisje was vlakbij het meer.

De trappen naar het strand waren dan weer leuk om foto's te maken.

The stairs to the beach were a fun setting to make photo's.

Behalve spelen, steentjes gooien,

springen, zwieren en zwaaien,

wilde ze ook nog wel eens poseren voor de camera.

Besides the playing,

throwing rocks, 

jumping, swinging and twirling,

she also wanted to pose for the camera.

Heel veel hartjes voor Ume,

heel veel hartjes voor Straight Grain An!
